Annamae Chambers, 88, of Bloomington died on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Garden Villa in Bloomington. She was born on September 17, 1921 the daughter of Edgar and Flora (Kinser) Tate. A homemaker, she was a longtime member of Sanders Pentecostal Church. A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed working with her flowers and canning the fruits and vegetables she and her husband Sam would grow. She was a writer of poetry, particularly religious in theme and enjoyed sharing them with her family.
Survivors include her children; Judith Langley and her husband Rudy, Jerry Chambers and his wife Gwyn, Randall S. Chambers and his wife Vicky, four grandchildren; Greg (Lynn) Southern, Tim (Janice Schuster) Southern, David Chambers and Lauriel Chambers, eleven step-grandchildren, several great grand and several great, great grandchildren, one half-brother, Dwight Tate and wife Helen of Bloomington and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Chambers, her parents and foster parents, John and Lillie (Tate) Clark, four sisters; Hazel Taylor, Eva Moore, Irene Tate and Geneva Tate, three brothers; Clovis Tate, James Tate and Delmar Tate, three half-brothers; Wendell Tate, Hershel Lloyd Tate and Ralph Tate, one half-sister; Sarah Alice Arthur, Step-sister Margaret Kinney and step-brothers Laurence Clark and William Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6th at Sanders Pentecostal Church, 6490 S. Fairfax Rd. with Rev. Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Ebal Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37 in Bloomington from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday one hour preceding the services.
