Carl R. Allen, 60, of Bloomington died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at the Richard C. Roudebush Medical Center in Indianapolis.  He was born on April 15, 1950 in Salem, Indiana the son of Frank and Dorothy (Gilstrap) Allen.  He retired this past October from Indiana University as a warehouse supervisor following 30 years of service.  He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Bigelow.

          Survivors include his wife, Rita C. Allen of Bloomington, two daughters; Amanda Borders of Springville and Carla Allen of Bedford, five grandchildren; Jefferey Borders, Joseph Borders, Josslyn Borders, Emma Allen and Zachary Hupp.  Also surviving are three sisters; Jean Stafford, Sarah Stalcup and Nancy Johnson and six brothers; Chris Allen, Kent Allen, Robert Allen, Bruce Allen, Gerald Allen and Richard Allen.

          He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

          Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens where the Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.  Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and one hour preceding the services on Monday at the funeral home.

    ZACHARY AND FAMILY I AM SO SORRY I DID NOT OF THIS IN TIME. WAS NOT HOME AND DID NOT KNOW OF IT UNTIL WE WENT BACK TO SCHOOL AND ZACHARY TOLD ME, I WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE. AGAIN I AM SO SORRY AND YOU ARE ALL STILL IN OUR PRAYERS.
