Charles Vernon Allen, 75, of Bloomington, IN, passed away August 8, 2011 at the IU Health Hospital.  He was born August 14, 1935 in Terre Haute, IN to George and Gladys (Jones) Allen.

Charles graduated from Indiana State University with a B.S. in chemistry.  He was a member of the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington, IN and also Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, IL.  Charles worked as a chemist in chemical sales.

Survivors include his sons, Chuck Allen and his wife Cherie of Palatka, FL; Jack Allen and his wife Irene of Bartlett, IL, and daughter, Rebecca Allen Bruder and her husband Michael of Bartlett, IL; step-daughters Anne Whitley and her husband Richard of Camberra, Australia, and Joellen Emmerick and her husband Eric of Wheaton, IL.; sister, Sharon Koie.  Charles is also survived by seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Bonnie Lou and second wife Emma Sue.

Services will be at 3pm, Sunday August 14, 2011 at Willow Creek Community Church, in the chapel, of South Barrington, IL.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Association of Mental Illness, (NAMI).
