Cleophas Worley, 89, passed away on May 22 at Bell Trace Health and Living Center in Bloomington, Indiana after a long illness. Cleo was born May 18, 1921 to Thomas Jefferson Worley and Hattie Scott Worley in Wyoming County, West Virginia. Cleo graduated from Mullins High School, Mullins, West Virginia and West Virginia Business College, Bluefield, West Virginia. He was employed as company auditor for Rish Equipment Company and their subsidiaries. He retired in 1982 after 42 years of service. After retirement, Cleo and Irene wintered in Naples, Florida.
Cleo was a member of East Naples United Methodist Church in Naples, Florida. He was a Master Mason and member of Mercer Lodge No. 85, Bluefield, West Virginia, and a member of Beni Kedem Shrine of Charleston, West Virginia. He was also a lifetime member of The Fraternal Order of Elks, Bluefield, West Virginia.
Cleophas was a veteran of World War II serving two years in the Army based in England with the 7th General Hospital. On April 12, 1941 Cleo married his sweetheart, the former Irene Bausell, of Lebanon, Virginia who survives to treasure to memories of their 69 years of love and companionship.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Bausell Worley, one daughter, Brenna Worley Bailey, and grandsons, Phillip Anderson Bailey and Adam Darrell Bailey of Bloomington, Indiana, and Marshall Lee Bailey of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers, Alvah H. Worley, Lawrence Worley and Thomas E. Worley, and sisters, Thelma Worley, Grace Mullins, Florence Averill, Mayme Summerfield, Mildred Jenks, and Athealeen Palmer.
There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.
