Darl "Dusty" C. Miller passed away on December 24, 2011 at Meadowood Retirement Community, Bloomington, Indiana.  Dusty was the son of Darl C. and Georgeanna Miller of Marion,Indiana where he spent his younger years.  Upon graduating from Indiana University in 1943, Dusty through the ROTC program, received his commission as a second lieutenant and served in WWII in the European Theater. Discharged as a captain, he returned to Indiana University where he received a Masters in Business.  His years at Indiana University served him well. As president of Phi Kappa Si (1942-1944), he was active in many campus organizations. Dusty loved and revered Indiana University.  Dusty and his wife, June Ford Miller retired to Bloomington in 2000, engaging again in campus activities:  concerts, Big Ten games, lectures, community service and attending First United Methodist Church. Dusty is survived by his four step children: Lee Roy Ford (Anita), Jean Ann Ford and Jane Ford-Petrin (Chris) and Bradley Hayes Ford (Debbie).  Additionally, he is survived by 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 4 nieces and nephews.  One of Dusty's greatest traits was the selfless love he expressed for his family. Dusty retired from Dana Corporation as Senior Vice President in Toledo, Ohio after 35 years of service. During that time Dusty became a 33rd Degree Mason. A gifted golfer, reader, photographer and traveler…his greatest gift was as husband to his beloved wife, June who preceded him in death, Thanksgiving Day, 2010.  "Fortunate is the man who loves and is loved" are words that inspired Dusty. As husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend he will be missed but never forgotten. There will be a Memorial Service at Meadowood Retirement Center on Wednesday December 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM, followed by a reception. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Peace Chapel in Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: IU Foundation /Kelly School of Business - The Darl and June Miller Scholarship Fund.

I wanted to express my condolences to the family of June and Dusty. I met them in the early 80's and did remodeling work for them through the rest of the that decade and the following one. They were always very warm and kind to me. I felt as thought though they truly cared about me as a person. It was clear that they were very much in love and that they treated each other very gently. There will always be a place in my heart for this special couple.

Dusty was a such a kind person. At Meadowood, he and my dad, John Brogneaux, discovered they were both from Grant County, and they became friends. He and June were a wonderful couple.

To the sweetest twins-- Dusty was just the best! I feel so fortunate that I was able to talk with him in late November when Mom passed away at Meadowood. Know that Dusty and your Mom are having a ball with my Mom and Dad--I'm sure heaven is rocking! My heart is with you, as you know. Your Mom and Dusty were so proud of you--and your brothers, too, of course. Know how many people loved them both and how much their rich friendship meant to my folks. Fondly, Diana Brogneaux Yoder
