Davy C. McClary, age 55, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He was born May 22, 1955 in Bloomington, Indiana, to Kenneth A. and Roxie E. (Fleener) McClary.

Davy graduated from Bloomington South High School in 1973 and the Indiana School of Business and Technology in Indianapolis. For 34 years Davy worked for Indiana Lumbermans Mutual Insurance Company, most recently as a senior operations analyst.  Davy loved volunteering his time and was closely associated with the Westlane Delaware Trails Little League in Indianapolis for over 26 years.  Davy’s love of baseball led him to first volunteer his time as a Little League coach in 1984.  He became a Little League umpire in 1990 and went on to umpire Little League games in District 8 and the Indiana Little League state tournaments.  Davy was a respected and valuable member of the WDTLL board of directors and spent countless hours each summer maintaining and manicuring the fields for the players and coaches.  Though he supported the Little League with both time and money his real love was helping young people learn how to play and enjoy baseball.

Davy is survived by his mother, Roxie E. McClary of Bloomington; two brothers James A. McClary of Perry, Florida, and Dan J. McClary (Cindy)of Seacrest, Florida; two sisters Carolyn S. McClary of Bloomington, and Lou Ann Easton (Daniel) of Bloomington; nephews Brady J. McClary of Naperville, Illinois, and Joshua P. McClary of Bloomington, nieces Kelly Commons of Bloomington, Jama Redar of Florence, Kentucky, and Kori Taylor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, 4 great nephews, and 4 great nieces.

Davy was always a joy to talk to and work with. He was always bopping around the office and had a smile for everyone. I'll miss hearing him call me "kiddo" everytime we spoke. For a long time, I thought maybe he didn't know my name... but soon realized that "kiddo" was his pet name for everyone! RIP Davy!

Dear McClary Family: It was with great surprise and sadness that I learned of Davy's passing. I am so very sorry for your loss and know what a void this will leave in your lives. I have many fond memories of summer baseball games with Davy in our backyards and I believe I once received a very nice black eye from him during one. Nevertheless, Davy was my first crush (at the very advanced age of 7 I might add) and he still managed to be nice to me. Please accept our sincerest sympathies on the loss of this member of your family. Bill and Garla (Rampley) Twyman

Dan & Cindy, Janet and I were very sad to hear of the death of Davy. I know how difficult this must be for you...you are in our thoughts and prayers. We never had the pleasure of meeting Davy but based on Dan's stories I know he was a special person. Davy's involvement in the Westlane Delaware Trail Little League is a great example of the selfless person he must have been. If there is anything that we can do to help you in anyway, please do not hesitate to call us anytime, even if it is only to talk. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with you & your family. To the Family and Friends of Davy McClary, I was just notified yesterday evening of the untimely death of Davy. I was deeply saddened to hear this and know how difficult it must be for you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Dave was an incredible human being. He always put others first regardless of the situation. I had the privilege of being raised by him and I just hope that I can live up to all the values that he instilled in me. He came into my life when I needed him most. My family was a bit “broken” and I was at that age when I was most impressionable. He stepped in and guided me through some very difficult times in my early life, and was the best father, coach, and friend that I could ever wish for. I hope that I can be as good of a father to my two boys as he was to me. Although I moved away from Indiana quite some time ago, not a day goes by that I don’t think of him and the time we spent together. He will be sorely missed. I love you Dave. May God bless you and your family during this time and always, Scott Graff

I worked many years with Davy at Indiana Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company in Indianapolis. He was always a hard worker and alot of fun to be around. He often would tell us stories about his umpiring at Westlane during lunch which we all enjoyed hearing. He was one heck of a nice guy. Sincere condolences to the McClary family. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. R.I.P. Davy.
