Donna Rose Weimer, 75, of Bloomington died on Friday at Garden Villa. Donna Rose was born on January 24, 1935 in Sandborn, Knox County, Ind. She was the daughter of Don E. and Rosa (Stribling) Lind. The family moved to Bloomington in 1942. She was a 1953 graduate of Bloomington High School and a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church. After raising her family, Donna Rose returned to school and received her BS degree in Interior Design from Indiana University. She ran her own design business for a few years and was an adjunct faculty member at Ivy Tech Bloomington.
Music was the joy of Donna Rose’s life and she enjoyed sharing her gift with her friends and family. She played the piano beautifully and served as the pianist/organist at Crossroads United Methodist Church for many years. She sang with the Bloomington chapter of Sweet Adelines women’s barbershop chorus, the Bloomington Pops Chorus, served on the board of directors for the Bloomington Pops Orchestra and Chorus and was a familiar face among the Bloomington music community. Always outgoing and social, Donna Rose will be missed by her many friends in Bloomington and throughout the country.
Donna Rose is survived by her husband of 53 years, Alan L. Weimer of Bloomington, one son, Paul A. Weimer of Kokomo, two daughters; Katrina Ladwig of Bloomington and Linda Dake of Camby, one sister, Juanola Mobley of Lewisville, TX; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Teddy Lind and one granddaughter, Bethany Bookwalter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 6th at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37, with Rev. Raymond New officiating. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour preceding the services on Tuesday. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.
