              Dorothy H. Parrott, 95, of Bloomington died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Richland-Beanblossom Health Care Center in Ellettsville.  She was born on September 2, 1916 in Bloomington the daughter of Otha and Mae Harding and attended Bloomington High School.  She was a longtime homemaker and worked for RCA of Bloomington during World War II.  She was a member of The Family Life Worship Center on Fox Hollow Road. 

            Dorothy loved to garden, to do canning and to quilt.  She spent many summers preparing for the winter from the crops she grew.  She also loved to do quilting and in later years spent time at the Endwright Senior Center in Ellettsville where she even learned to do email.

            She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bob and Effie Smiley of Linton and her daughter and son-in-law,L inda Madison-Simpson and Fred Simpson of Easley, SC., eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel G. Parrott, one son, Jackie Dean Smiley,  one grandson, Steve Eric Smiley, two brothers and eleven sisters.

            Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Family Life Worship Center, 8449 Fox Hollow Rd., Bloomington, IN 47408 with Rev. Tracy Noel officiating.  Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church today from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday one hour preceding the services.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.

    Aunt Dorothy was quite a lady and she will be sorely missed. I will always remember the great times we had visiting in CA and IN. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the rest of the family.
