Edith Smith, 98, of Bloomington died on Monday, October 3, 2011, at
Garden Villa in Bloomington. She was born on October 14, 1912
in Monroe County the daughter of Dalty and Dessie (Deckard)
Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of South Union
Christian Church.
Her survivors include three daughters, LaDonna Henderson (husband
Richard) of Bloomington, Joyce Scott (husband Jerry) of Bedford and
Betty Donica of Martinsville, one son, Vernon Smith (wife Rita) of
Bloomington, one sister, Pauline Douthitt (husband Stanley) of
Bloomington, fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren
and fourteen great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Smith in 1977, two
daughters; Vernice Fulford and Freida Smith and several brothers
and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Allen Funeral Home on Saturday,
Oct. 8h at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Rick Smale officiating.
Burial will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Friends may
call on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
