When I moved to Bloomington from Kaua'i in 1998, Uncle helped ease my transition back to the mainland by (among other things) always giving me a gentle "Howzit?" and a hug whenever we met. In the early 2000s, he graciously allowed me to interview him about his life for a school project, and he was there to offer support, encouragement, and love during a really tough period in my own life. When he started driving bus, he used to stop in the middle of a turn, or just along the street (whether or not there was an actual bus stop), so he could say hello. I will miss his music, his wisdom, his generosity, his testimony of the gospel and Jesus Christ, and his example of what aloha means in practice. Love you, Uncle!

Dear family members of Mr. Hiram, It is with this letter I send my sincerest condolences on the death of Edmund. I rode the bus with Edmund on numerous occasions, and he had always been professional with a good sense of humor. Few times that I have witnessed a few passengers being arrogant towards him, his sense of pride as an Hawaiian and one who served for the United States stood out greatly. I want you to know that the passengers and the drivers of Bloomington Transit will miss him dearly, and send their regrets. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. I understand that his passing is hitting close to Christmas, I express my sincerest griefs to you and your family. Again, pleased accept our deepest sympathies. Sincerely, Alice Wei

Ed was our friend, Ed was a friend to ALL. I will miss him deeply, a smile a hug, a song from Ed was a gift from his heart. Ed played and sang at my mother's funeral, and cheered the hearts of those there. He was also a good friend of both of my parents, and died on their Anniversary. I told my mother that I was sending Ed to them, for an anniversary present...! Now he's singing with the angels, and doing his missionary work on the other side. His testimony of the Gospel was strong, and his love for all he met was a beautiful thing to see and hear. Goodbye dear friend, until we meet again on the other side. Love to you...always... Pat
