Edna L. Johnson French, 89, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on October 3, 2010, at Garden Villa of Bloomington.

            Edna was born on January 10, 1921, in Greene County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Ray E. Carmichael and Addie E. (Floyd) Carmichael.  She married Kenneth E. Johnson on March 22, 1941, who preceded her in death on December 4, 1955.

            During her life, Edna worked at RCA, Waterworks School, Hunter School and Cook, Inc. in Bloomington, Indiana.

            Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Smith Brodeur, and her husband, Lawrence J. Brodeur, and one son, Larry E. Johnson, and his wife, Deborah E. Johnson, all of Bloomington.  Edna is also survived by five grandsons; Larry Dale Johnson, Michael R. Johnson and Kenneth D. Johnson of Bloomington, Indiana, Randall S. Johnson of Solsberry, Indiana, and Steven E. Smith of Spencer, Indiana, and by five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

            Edna is also survived by her brothers, Clovis (Mary) Carmichael, Wayne (Betty) Carmichael, Clayton (Mary) Carmichael, and Keith (Joyce) Carmichael, and by her sisters, Wilma (William) Hanna, Ruby (Don) Shiflet, and Helen East.

            In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Carmichael.

            Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today, October 5, 2010, at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington, Indiana.

             Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at Allen Funeral Home, with Reverend Maurice Wright officiating.  Burial will immediately follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Friends may also call one hour preceding the services on Wednesday.
