Elaine Cromwell Kennedy. 94. of Michigan City, Indiana,
formerly of Bloomington. Indiana died at her residence, August 2,
2011. Born May 28. 1917 in Salem. Illinois. she was the daughter of
James W. and Cora F. Cromwell. Her husband. Eugene C. Kennedy,
preceded her in death in 2002. Surviving are three children, James
L. Kennedy of Bloomington, Gail E. Kennedy of The Villages, Florida
and Mary Jean Greene and Spouse. Tim of Beverly Shores, Indiana:
four grandchildren. Scott Christy, Amanda Ward. Jason Kennedy and
Jeffrey Kennedy: and three great-grandchildren. A sister. Evelyn
Flanagan preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Evansville
Bosse High School and attended the University of Illinois where she
was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She and her spouse
moved to Gary. Indiana where she was active in several social and
philanthropic organizations in that city for over 30 years. She was
a member of the First Presbyterian Church in that city and later in
Highland. Indiana. She continued her activities when she and her
husband moved to Bartow, Florida where they lived for a number of
years before returning to Indiana in 1995. Allen Funeral Home 4155
South Old Highway 37 in Bloomington. Indiana is in charge of
private arrangements and online condolences amy be sent to the
family at www.allenfuneralhome.org. Interment will be at Clear
Creek Cemetery in that city. There will be no calling. but a
memorial service is planned for a later date.
