I would like to extend my sincere sympathies to Beth’s family. I know that her passing over is such a great loss for the entire family. I met Beth in 1979 when I began working in the Monroe County Courts and my best memories of my career here were in the office of Judge James Dixon, where I had the honor and pleasure of a friendship with Beth, as well as Helen Sparks, Henry Hammond, Linda Cobb and Yolanda Davis. I always looked forward to having lunch at Ladyman’s with her and the gang. She was gracious and patient with all who walked into the office. She was dedicated to her career, her Judge, and her children. She looked forward to attending her children’s ball games and and other activities and she was so proud of each of them. To this day, I have a clear memory of how heartbroken she was when the family dog passed away and I still wish I could have talked her into another puppy. An untold number of fledgling lawyers owe a debt of gratitude to Beth Hurt for sharing her wisdom as well as her intervention when they were about to file a ill-advised pleading! She was kind and generous and lived a life that truly reflected her ethics and morals. In my last conversation with her not so long ago, she told me how blessed and grateful she felt that her grandson would take time out of his busy schedule to mow her lawn and help with chores at her home so she did not have to worry about it. I believe that it is all of us who knew Beth who are grateful and feel blessed by her presence in our lives. Michelle (Shea) (Hall) Yeger.

Beth was a wonderful person to work with. I had worked directly with her when I worked for the Baker Law Firm and again when I was a Court Reporter for Circuit VII. She was always helpful and never too busy to help with anything you needed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Beth's family. I have many fond memories of Beth with whom I had too many contacts to count over the years. I recall her as being efficient and accurate beyond description as well as friendly, outgoing and helpful often despite days that were pressure packed and stressful. She was greatly missed when she retired. Her family was of utmost importance to her and I know that you all will miss her.

I was so sorry to discover upon my return from vacation that Beth had passed away. I have known, admired, and respected her since I met her in 1988 when I began my legal career as a deputy prosecutor. She helped to keep me in line and on my toes in her gentle and encouraging way. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to her family.
