Elizabeth H. Winkler, 82 of Bloomington, passed away Tuesday May 10, 2011 at Monroe Hospital. She was born January 11, 1929 in Selma, Alabama to Plennie and Ellen Johnston Wallis. She leaves behind her husband Lewiell WInkler of Bloomington; son Stephen Winkler and his wife Beth of Holland, Indiana; daughter Lisa Shea Harris and her husband David of Deltona, Florida; daughter Christine Hunter and her husband Robert Of Spencer, Indiana, as well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Memorial Services for Elizabeth will be held this Saturday May 14, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Bloomington. The family has requested that memorial contributions may be given in Elizabeth's memory to either Trinity Episcopal Church or any Cancer Foundation of the donor's choice.     I worked for Liz as a young reporter at the Herald-Times before moving on in my career. I remained in touch for many, many years after, and consider her to have been a dear mentor professionally and personally. She had a wonderful wit, wry outlook on life, and a kind approach to others. So glad to have had her in my life and saddened by her passing.
