Emogene Joann "Jean" Miller Farr passed away Tuesday Morning,
June 21, 2011 inBloomingtonat the age of 88. She was born January
27, 1923 in Paragon to the late Dr. Homer A. and ClonaI.Hodges
Miller. She graduated fromParagonHigh Schoolin 1941 and
began working inIndianapolis. She worked at theColemanHospitalon
the Indiana University Campus and for Dr. Brayton, a dermatologist
inIndianapolis. She married James C. Farr while he was a medical
student at IU. He preceded her in death January
1994. Surviving are children; Jean Ann Roach (Jack)
of Lafayette, Jane Ellen Weiser of Bloomington, Julia Louise Castro
of Colorado Springs and James B. Farr (Julie) of
Martinsville.
Also surviving are grandchildren; Julianna M. Elsner (Greg) of
Noblesville, Charles P. Hilger of Indianapolis, Jennifer K. Hilger
of Kanab, Utah, Joseph Weiser (Michele) of Athens, Ga., Margaret
Weiser of Bloomington, Gregory Masias Nicholas Masias and Laura
Masias all of Colorado Springs, Lydia Farr, Rebekah Farr both of
Martinsville and one great-granddaughter, Dahlaynei Masias of
Colorado Springs. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jean loved the out-of-doors, gardening, roses and vegetables. She
also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and did needlework. She
woke up early every morning to feed the birds and squirrels. As a
child, she was very proud of her 4-H years. As an adult, she
enjoyed ballroom dancing, participating actively into her early
80's. She was also a long time member of the DAR and Phi Sigma
Alpha. She doted on her little gray cat, Misty. They had an
unbreakable bond. Although Jean is gone from here, she
will always be loved and remembered in our hearts. Friends may pay
their respects 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at Allen Funeral
Home (4155 S. State Road 37)Bloomington. Funeral services
will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Allen Funeral Home
with Steve Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship
Park, Paragon, IN.
