Ernest McClellan Stevens, age 84 of Bloomington passed away September 14, 2010 at Garden Villa. He was born June 1, 1926 in Belmont, Indiana to Wade A. and Pearl Owens Stevens. Ernest attended Brown County High School until being called during his senior year to serve his country during World War II. He served with honor in the European Theatre in the United States Army.  After his time of service he spent his professional career with RCA for 36 plus years before retiring in 1989. He was also a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Ellettsville. Ernest was an avid sports fan. He will be remembered most for his loving devotion to his wife and family, and his dedication to spending meaningful time with them. He leaves behind his wife Imogene Wrightsman Stevens of Bloomington to whom he married in 1949; son Mark Alan Stevens and his wife Beverly of Solsberry; son David Lee Stevens and his wife Sherry of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Lindsey Michelle, Jeremiah Taylor and Eric Evan Stevens; a sister Ruth Percifield, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, his step father Paul Nugent, a brother Donald Stevens and twin sons who passed away in 1953. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 18, 2010 at 1:00PM in the Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37. Visitation will be held Friday September 17, 2010 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Allen Funeral Home. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Ernest’s name to the First Assembly of God Church Building Fund.
