Ervin D. Deckard, age 84 of Bloomington passed away at his residence Sunday afternoon April the 10th 2011. He was born December 4, 1926 in Lawrence County to Joseph and Elizabeth Goodman Deckard. Ervin worked for Curry Construction and then was self employed as a well know concrete finisher in the Bloomington and surrounding area for over 25 years. He was a World War II Veteran serving his country proudly from March of 1945 until September of 1946 in the United States Army, 21st Infantry 24th Division in Japan. Ervin truly loved his wife of 66 years, Joyce Deckard, to whom he first met at the Sanders Pentecostal Church. He also loved his family, his dog Mylo, farming, fishing, mushroom hunting, deer and coon hunting, as well as the home he built himself. Ervin and his wife Joyce attended Sanders Pentecostal Church. He leaves behind his wife Joyce; three daughters, Sharon Moore of Bloomington, Vivian Corbin and her companion Leon Prince of Solsberry, and Renee Harper of Bloomington.; one son, Tony Deckard and his wife Brenda of Solsberry; nine grandchildren, Monty Moore and his wife Bethany, Shannon Krebbs and her husband Dean, Clinton Moore and his wide Daphne, VaDonna Combs and her husband Gary, Melissa Arter and her husband Tom, Randy Harper and his companion Kylee, Toby Harper and his companion Misty, Justin Deckard and his wife Heather, and Rusty Deckard. Ervin is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a sister, Betty Corbin of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, Clarence, Virgil, Harley, Harvey, Deward, Rodney and Clovis Deckard, and two sisters, Olive Cantrell and Edith Leonard. Funeral services for Ervin will be conducted Thursday April 14, 2011 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37 at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Visitation will be Wednesday April 13, 2011 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM also at Allen Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Bloomington Hospital Hospice staff for the wonderful care they provided Ervin, especially Trish, Pat and Susan.     Ervin was always so good to Jimmy/Daddy there on Snoddy road. They both in there own little way checked on each other. Our prayers are with the entire Deckard family.

    Sorry I was out of town until late yesterday----my dad and Ervin were closely conected thru Curry Construction years ago----Ervin poured the basement floor for my dad's new house on Easter weekend around 1960 in Highland Village. I remember it well--- he was there on that Sunday because the concrete would not harden. On behalf of the entire Foster Curry family I would like to offer our condolences.
