To "Fred's Boys" - I don't have to tell you how much you meant to your dad. I called with him a scant week ago, and his concern was for you. Fred and I go back to 1948 when I hired in to Bell Telephone. We were both on George Patterson's line crew and have shared many experiences since that time. I will try to jot down some of them for you. Fred left you a good heritage: a good name, good work ethics, and a love for family. He was a faithful husband to your mother during her long illness and loved her to the end. Live your lives as well as your dad, and you will be good guys. God bless.

i am so glad that "pap" gave his life to Jesus in his final days. when i told little zane a few nites ago that his papaw might not be here much longer, his response amazed me. from this sweet little 7 year old boy, i heard the following words: "well, grammy, it's not like pap is unprepared. he is ready to go home." zane knew that papaw had asked Jesus into his heart a couple of years ago and had been baptized. so zane knew that pap was, indeed, prepared. i thank the Lord for this! i also praise God for pauline axsom, who befriended pap while eula was in the nursing home, and invited pap to church and was instrumental in his trusting Jesus with his life and his being baptized. thank you, Lord, for our "pap" and the knowledge that he is now at rest with you!! what a comfort that is!! may you all make sure that you and your loved ones are "prepared" to meet Jesus also.
