Dear Carol, Jesse, Kim, & Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Harvey was a remarkable man and I am pleased to have met him, I wish I had had the opportunity to know him better. You can all be very proud of the legacy he has left. My own Dad's name was also Harvey,and we lost him in 1986 at the age of 61, so you are fortunate to have had your Dad/husband for as long as you did. It is never easy to lose someone you love, but we don't want them to suffer so now his pain is gone and he is free. You will see him again. Harvey Phillips was a man who was loved by many, so you can always be thankful for all that love too. Dear Carol & Family, I'm very sad to learn of Harvey's passing. My father passed away on October 14, so I know what you're going through. I hope you can take comfort in the ways Harvey changed the world with his musicianship and devotion to music education. All of the tuba events Harvey started will celebrate his life for generations to come. I hope all of your happy memories will give you the strength to cope with this difficult time.

Carol, we are saddened at the passing of your dear husband. We recall many wonderful evenings at your home where the two of you offered the bountiful gift of music and renowned musicians to your friends. My sincere condolences to the family of Harvey Phillips. I had Harvey for one semester for tuba lessons. He was extremely knowledgable and professional during the course of my lesson. I never had the opportunity to study with Harvey, but i was a Don Butterfield student, and Don ALWAYS had THE VERY BEST to say about Harvey. I last saw Harvey on Sunday, December 10, 2006, at the skating rink where i was honored to accompany Dorothy Butterfield and her family to the Tubachristmas that Harvey dedicated to Don. Dear Phillips Family, I was a student of Mr. Phillips from 1990-1992 at IU. What an enjoyable man! I remember vividly eating ice cream with peanuts and the best "fish soup" in your home. He was inviting, gracious, kind and concerned for his students' success. I am thankful for the time I spent with him. Please know that my life has been significantly influenced by your husband, father and grandfather.
