Helen Ethelene Tate went home to be with our Heavenly Father at Monroe Hospital on Tuesday, August 24, 2010.  She was born in Indianapolis on May 11, 1926.  She was the daughter of Cletus and Mary (Lucas) Axsom.  She was a life-long member of the New Paynetown Pentecostal Church.  She was retired from RCA.  She was employed at Indiana University, Dept. of Biology and the Dept. of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. 

 Survivors include husband of 62 years Dwight E. Tate, one daughter Patricia R. Hooten (Gene); One Daughter In-Law Rita Tate, four sisters, Margaret Bock, Susie Verseman, Betty Barger, Sharon Varner and one brother, Chester Axsom .  She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeffrey Hooten (Marcia), Jennifer Smith (Kelly), Jeremy Hooten (Jessica), Dustin (Jennifer) Tate and Sheena Tate,    10 great grandchildren and by her loving puppy Toy. And several nieces and nephews also survive.

 She was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Dwight Tate, four brothers, Cletus Axsom,Jr., Alva Axsom, David Axsom, Charles Axsom ; one sister Clara Axsom.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 27th at Paynetown Pentecostal Church, 4824 S. Harrell Rd., Bloomington with Rev. Cheryl Crum officiating.  Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour preceding the services on Friday.

 Memorial contributions may be to the Paynetown Pentecostal Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.  Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37, Bloomington is in charge of arrangements.
