J. Dexter Sargent, age 96 of Bloomington passed away Wednesday July 25, 2012 at Indiana University Health Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born March 1, 1916 in Martin County, Indiana to Jasper A. and Mary Edna Fish Sargent.
Dexter received his Associates Degree in HVAC from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and spent his professional career with Indiana University in the architectural division. He was a member of Fairview Methodist Church in Bloomington and the VFW in Mesa, Arizona. Dexter and his family are especially proud of his service to our country during World War II. He was a member of the Eighth Army Air Corp and flew in the bomber squadron in the European Theatre.
He leaves behind his wife of nearly 70 years Judy Swindle Sargent of Bloomington; son James D. Sargent Jr. and his wife Betty of West Jordan, Utah; son Gary J. Sargent and his wife Lynn of Boca Raton, Florida; one grandchild, six step grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Darrell Sargent.
A reception to honor Dexter's life will be held Sunday July 29, 2012 from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at the family residence in Bloomington. Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37 is handling the arrangements and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.J.
