With the passing of Jack Brannon goes one of the best fisherman, bird dog trainers, bird hunters, and all 'around avid sportsman our area has ever known. Jack took many of us under his wing and taught us a lot about the outdoors and life in general.Jack had more good bird dogs than any one guy should deserve. In my opinion his best was Reb, followed closely by Jake. Jack was a long-time friend and hunting companion of Coach Knight and coach always introduced Jack as the best quail hunter ever. David, you have lost a great dad and friend, but you'll think of the good times fishing and hunting more as time passes.

My life was influenced greatly by my association with Jack Brannon. We met at Odon. I was his student-teacher. I must have done OK as he brought me along with him to Ellettsville. My met my wife there at Ellettsville. I also attended the Ellettsville Christian Church. Both my wife/family and church which began there at Ellettsville have been a blessing to me. It came about because he had faith in me. I went to a drive in movie with all you guys. It was a Frank Sinatra World War 2 action movie. I forget the name but it was on TV some time ago and I watched it again!I have thought many times of the opportunity Jack gave me and how it all worked out for me.

I remember Jack, Mr. Brannon as us students called him then, fondly. He was my brother's, Don Flinn, basketball coach (Don passed away 8 yrs ago at the age of 58), and my driver's ed. teacher. I always liked him, I remember him slamming his brake when I was taking driver's training because I didn't come to a complete stop. LOL Thru the years, anytime I saw the name Brannon, I always checked to see if it was Jack, I would have liked to have said hello to him again. My father, Raymond "Donkey" Flinn, died Feb 9th, perhaps they, Dad, Don and Jack are talking sports now! My sympathy to all the family. Barb Mensch
