             James Alan Combs, 64, of Harrodsburg died on Tuesday, August 13, 2011 at his residence.  He was born on November 11, 1946 in Bloomington the son of Charles B. and Virginia L. (Parker) Combs.  He was a graduate of Smithville High School and an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He previously worked at General Electric in Bloomington.

            Survivors include one son, Casey Thomson of Raliegh, NC, five sisters; Shari Hanson and husband Herschel, Patricia Combs, Deniese Combs and Angela Eads and her husband Tony, all of Harrodsburg, three brothers; Mike Combs and wife Debra, Dan Combs and wife Pat and Mark Combs, all of Monroe County and many nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his parents.

            Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Clover Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bill Breeden officiating.  Friends and family are encouraged to attend.  There will be no visitation.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.

    So sorry to hear of the loss of Jim. I have such good memories of him while we were growing up. He spent a lot of hours at our home at Harrodsburg. Over the years I have always thought of him on November 11th as he always said that we celebrated his birthday with a holiday and had a day off school. Lots of good memories. Beverly Kirkman Eads
