James Morris Peregrine, 94, of Bloomington, Indiana, peacefully passed from this life on Thursday, March 24th, 2011 at home with his loving family by his side.  He was born August 21st, 1916 in Cambridge, Iowa to the late Chase and Bertha (Morris) Peregrine. 

Jim was an Army Veteran of World War II and enjoyed spending time with his family and talking with friends and neighbors.  He retired from the Indiana University in 1981.  He loved to fish, which he continued to do with great enthusiasm, well into his 90’s.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 ½ years, Jean (Shields) Peregrine, two loving daughters Glenda Kosbe of Bradenton, Florida and Treva Toler (Don) of Bloomington, loving grandchildren Brett Clark (Stacey) of Port Orange, Florida, Crisinda (Chambers) Mann (Michael) of Bradenton, Florida, great-grandchildren Andrew Dylan Clark and Christopher James Clark, devoted siblings Marion Peregrine (Margaret) and Marylou Hillenburg and sister in-laws Jewel Tieman, Gleeda Scrogham and Glodene Humphrey.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Oral Peregrine, three sisters, Mildred Foster, Maryl Shirley and Nancy Crider and son-in-law, Leonard Kosbe.

He was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member of the Soul’s Harbor Apostolic Church.  Those who knew him appreciated his strength of character, kindheartedness, gentle sense of humor and genuine love of life. 

Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, March 27th, 2011 at Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old Hwy 37, in Bloomington.  Visitation at 1pm preceding the funeral at 2pm at Soul’s Harbor Church.  Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery where the Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org
