Wilma Joan Myers, 63, of Bloomington passed away on Friday, Dec.
30th at her residence. She was born on July 3,
1948 in Monroe County and was the daughter of Loren and Louise
(Byers) Moser. She graduated from Smithville High School in
1966 and worked in the Bloomington are most of her life.
Joan loved being around people and for several years worked as a
food service director in area nursing homes. She also was a
licensed beauty operator and loved to make silk floral arrangements
when asked. Because of her work she was recognized by the
former Bloomington Convalescent Center with a Certificate of
Appreciation with the residents. She was also the recipient
of the Monroe County Community Service Award. She was a
graduate of the State of Indiana's School on Disability.
As a lifelong resident of Monroe County, Joan participated in
numerous activities including the Heritage Days Festival in
Harrodsburg. She served on the Board of Directors for the festival
and was Miss Congeniality during Monroe County's Sesquicentennial
Celebration.
Survivors include one son, Bradley F. Myers of Bloomington, her
mother, Louise Moser of Bloomington, her sisters; Linda (Windell)
Morrow of Lawrence County, Connie Kinser and Lana Moser, both of
Bloomington, Diane Forbes of Salina, OH and Anita Johnson and her
former spouse, Harvey Myers of Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Beulah Beeler,
her father, Loren Moser, her brother, Donnie Moser, her
grandparents, Frank and Bessie Byers and her aunt and uncle,
Phyllis and Robert Felling.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at
Allen Funeral Home with Rev.'s Cheryl Crum and Michael Douglas
officiating. Burial will be at Clover Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral
home.
