John "Jack" Shepley

Jack Shepley, 83, passed away at Bloomington Hospital Wednesday morning after a brief illness. 
He was born in Joliet, Illinois and lived in northern Indiana before proudly serving in the US Navy on the USS Glennon, during World War II.  Jack used his GI Bill to attend college at Arizona State before starting a family in northern Indiana. The family spent many years there before relocating to Bloomington in 1970.  As a Journeyman Electrician, he worked in the U.S. steel mills and for Indiana University. He later held a number of industrial equipment sales positions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Shepley, and Myrtle Ivy (Shaw) Shepley, and an infant son Jeffery.  He is survived by one sister, Lois Chouinard (living in Carmel).  Jack is also survived by three children and their spouses; Brad (Kathy) Shepley (of Illinois); Scott (Kathy) Shepley; Julie (Todd) Posson (both of Bloomington) and two nieces, Alexis Beaver (Indianapolis) and Lori (Jim) Jannasch (Westfield).  He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great, great grandson and several great nieces and nephews.
A private family remembrance gathering was held at Allen Funeral Home 4155 SOuth Old Highway 37 following his passing and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.

    Jack will always be remembered by his great smile. I met Jack when we were in single clubs in B'ton. He was known for his dancing. he always danced with all the "girls," never left anyone sitting for long. He will be missed.

    My deepest sympathy for the family. I had the opportunity and enjoyed talking with Jack several times recently during his brief time at Redbud Hills retirement center. My mother is a resident there and she tells me that he was very well liked and will be missed. God Bless your family.
