John O. Mitchell Sr., 72, of Bloomfield passed away Sunday at the Residence at McCormick’s Creek. Born December 20, 1937 in Danville, Indiana he was the son of Guy G. and Katherine L. (Forney) Mitchell. John was a truck driver for many companies including Sims, Best Beers and Hanna Trucking. He was baptized at the Smithville Christian Church and was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 135. John is survived by his wife Karla Mitchell of Bloomfield; four children Lori Marling (Glen) of Solsberry; Kevin Deckard (Linny) of Bloomfield; Johnny Mitchell (Sherry) of Solsberry; and Kathy Stewart of Bloomington; one sister Mary Jo Dudley (Bill) of Smithville; one brother Terry Mitchell (Pam) of Springville; ten grandchildren Justin, Levi and Cameron Marling, Johnny and Joey Douglas, Danny Deckard, Cheyenne Knowling, Ben Stewart, Cody and Casey Mitchell; and two great grandchildren Kaelyn and September Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jim Mitchell. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home with Tommy Shields officiating. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Smithville Cemetery with military rites conducted by the veterans honor guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in lieu of flowers.
