Leonard Paul Chambers, 76, of Spencer, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 surrounded by family.  Born February 17, 1935, in Monroe County, he was the eldest son of Holland “Hollie” Chambers and Lydia (Hedrick) Chambers. Respected and well-loved, he was a hard-working, caring, faithful and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor, friend, and member of the community.  He attended the Whitehall Pentecostal Church and was a retired employee of United Technologies Otis Elevator.  He was also a member of the Two-Cylinder Club. Survivors include his wife, Georgia Brown Chambers; two daughters, Carol Meadows (William) of Plainfield and Donna Kay Bevers of Indianapolis; one grandson, Joel Meadows; and two brothers, Leon Chambers (Lyril) of Solsberry and Alfred Earl Chambers (Lois) of Spencer.  He was preceded in death by both parents; a half brother, Draten Junior Butcher; and a grandson, Jesse Ray Bevers.  His Going Home Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 19th, at Allen Funeral Home. Brothers Anthony Warner, Loy Baird, and Jeff Bond will officiate.  Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens with Military Rites conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call Thursday 4-8 PM and Friday 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
