Dr. Whikehart was my first "real" voice teacher at Capital University. He was SUCH an amazing person, an incredible musician, and so encouraging to me at all times, like a kind and supportive father, while I was at Capital University. I was in Chapel Choir for 3 years under his direction. I came from a small rural area in central Ohio and had never heard, let alone sung, such glorious music. His entire heart and soul was in that music, and he directed us like an angel, pulling everything out of us that he could get and we gave him everything we had because we loved him so much. Wherever he is, he's making music. May his memory be for a blessing.

I am saddened to learn of my uncle's passing. I had great respect for my uncle Lou, as I am a musician as well. I helped him, several years ago to remaster part of his recordings that were on LPs. I would like to make these remastering a available to any family manners who would like a copy. I can send MP3s , AIF files or a CD if they prefer. The Album is titled " Live Came Down at Christmas". I know his arrangements are well known in many circles. My family, when I was young, had visited my uncles family. I confess , I don't remember much, but I did meet his children. And to you , I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My wife , Julie, and I will be praying for you and Tyler. I will share a quick story about your father that that has been special to us Coyles. When I was helping him remaster his music, he asked me what interests my children had. At the time, they were all about the Harry Potter craze. The next thing I knew, there arrived a package at our house with a book of spells for my daughter to entice someone with love potions and whatnot. We were a little surprised, but we thought that was great. I thought you might enjoy the story. Lance Coyle

Sorry to hear of your loss. Forty years ago, I performed in his Chamber Choir and Festival Chorus(The Capital University Summer Festival of 1972.)I still remember his cheerful and patient manner; he was a wonderful Director. I retain with pride the album we produced that year. Once again, sorry to hear he has passed, and my sincere condolences.
