Lillian Maxine Barrett of Solsberry went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2011. She was born in Monroe County on December 12, 1918 to Stanley and Jessie Grace Whaley. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and wife. Her ability to see the good in people was a gift that her friends and family will sadly miss. She is survived by her daughter Brenda E. Blue of Solsberry; two grandsons Brad Johnson and his wife Malissa of Springville, and Brett Johnson and his wife Andrea of Solsberry; nine great grandchildren, Kaila, Cory, Kasey, Zack, Magan, Jesse, Kendrick, Breanna, and Justin, and 3 great great grandchildren, Lilly, Max and Garrett. Also surviving are two very special caregivers in Rita Steel, and Joni Hickum. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years, Marshall Andrew Barrett, sister Wilma Jean Whaley and a brother Raymond Whaley. She was employed as an assistant to attorney John P. O'Donnell, Jonson Creamery and the Monroe County License Branch as well as a lifetime homemaker and caregiver. She graduated from Stanford Grade School and Bloomington High School with Honors. She was also an avid gardner and great cook to any and all that showed up for Sunday dinner. She loved Indiana University Basketball, Football, and the Indiana Pacers, and was the oldest living member of Greene County Chapel Church. Funeral services will be held at Green County Chapel Church this Friday November 18, 2011 at 11:00AM in the morning. Reverends Matt Whitacre and Rob Martindale will officiate. Visitation will be held today, Thursday November 17, 2011 from 2:00PM until 8:00PM at Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37. Friends may also call at the church Friday morning from 10AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Green County Chapel Church and online condolences may be sen to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.

    Maxine will be missed by many. I will never forget the kids and I walking down to talk with Jean and Maxine. Our Halloween visits were always extra special so they could see all the costumes. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers during such a difficult time.
