Lorraine L. Gross of Bloomington passed away Monday afternoon April 26, 2010 at her residence. She was 89 years old. Lorraine was born May 12, 1920 in Gary, Indiana to Harry and Esther Goldstein Lewis. She graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary Indiana and spent most of her professional career at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart and Gary Indiana as the Director of Volunteer Services. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and leaves behind her husband of 66 years Julian Gross of Bloomington; son Ed Gross, wife Lizbeth Kalina and their two sons Joshua and Bradley Gross of Bloomington; son Joel Gross and his children Jeremy, Lauren and Douglas Gross of Marblehead, Massachusetts; daughter Linda Shockey of Dallas, Texas; son Jay Gross and his wife Betsy of Orange County, California; and daughter Nancy Spice, husband Byron and sons Andrew and Daniel Spice of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Lewis. Memorial Services will be held for Lorraine on Wednesday April 28, 2010 at 1:30PM at Congregation Beth Shalom 3750 East Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana. Lorraine’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to both Bloomington Home and Health Care Hospice and Elder Care Connections Inc. and request in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be sent to either organization. Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37 is handling the arrangements.
