            Marsha Jo Deckard, 61, of Bloomington died on Friday morning, March 11, 2011 at her residence with her loving family and friends at her side.  She was born in Bloomington on Feb. 28, 1950 the daughter of Richard E. and Velma L. (Nugent) Mahaffey.  A graduate of University High School, she worked for numerous beauty salons in the Bloomington area as a hairstylist and also worked for several years with the Indiana Real Estate Certification Program as an administrative assistant and registration coordinator.  She especially enjoyed taking the annual trips to Mexico and other warm climates to help conduct seminars for the company.

            Marsha especially loved doing for her family.  She felt a pride in getting ready for holidays, being the “hostess with the mostest” and preparing Christmas dinner.  She took pride in gardening around her home, attending little league baseball games for the grandkids, knitting scarves and just doing crafts. Anything to be more sociable was what she enjoyed.

            Her survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law; Shannon McPike Webb and husband Steven of Bloomington, Megan and Danny Holtsclaw of Bloomfield, her longtime companion Andy Holte of Bloomington, her parents, Richard and Velma Mahaffey of Bloomington, her sister Sharon Belcher and husband Chuck of Bloomington, two grandsons, Cooper and Ty and two nieces, Natalie and Justin Clark and Nicole and David Van Sant, all of Bloomington.

            Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37 with Bro. Glen Stidd officiating.  Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour preceding the services on Monday.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.

    I was so very sad to hear of Marsha's passing. I had known her almost all my life, and am so sorry that she has left us at such an early age. My condolences to Sharon, Dick and Velma and all her loved ones. She will be missed by all who knew her.
