Mary Fidelia Verbeeck, age 96 of Bloomington passed away early Sunday morning July 3, 2011 at the Bell Trace Health and Living Center. She was born January 28, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois to Alphonse and Helen Bolsens VanDenBosch. Mary was a graduate of Schurz High School in Chicago and spent her professional career working in retail sales and banking. She is a member of St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, is a former member of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Chicago where she attended for nearly 60 years and also belonged to the Daughters of Isabella in Bloomington.  Mary derived great enjoyment from her time spent singing in various church choirs over the years in Chicago, Florida and Denver. She leaves behind her daughter Mary Ann Jones and her husband Bill of Bloomington; daughter Margaret Helen Mitchell and her husband John of Houston, Texas; granddaughter Catherine Gottlieb and her husband Jonathan; grandson Robert Jones; grandson David Mitchell and his fiance Shirine Ghafouri; granddaughter Lisa Mitchell and her fiance Jason Kainer; great grandchildren Adam, Danny and Joshua Gottlieb; several nieces and nephews as well as a brother Paul Fonteyne and his wife Veronica of Largo, Florida and a sister Lorraine Michaelsen and her companion Tony Pecho of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Anthony Verbeeck in 2006. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday July 7, 2011 at 12 Noon at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church 2517 West Logan Blvd. Chicago. Fr. Wayne Watts will preside. Visitation for Mary will be held Thursday July 7, 2011 from 11:00AM until the time of the Mass at 12 Noon also at the church. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Chicago. Memorial contributions may be made to either the St. Vincent DePaul Society or the St. John Berchmans Catholic Church School.
