MAX BOHRER

Max Bohrer passed away on December 23, 2010 at the age of 96. Mr. Bohrer was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a licensed Professional Engineer and a licensed attorney in Indiana and Kentucky. He served with the Corps of Engineers in the Philippines during World War II.

Mr. Bohrer was past President of St. Marks United Church of Christ, a former member of the New Albany Kiwanis Club and a former member of the New Albany Plan Commission.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anna Bohrer and his sons John Bohrer (Carol Anne) of Houston Texas and James Bohrer (Denise) of Bloomington, Indiana. He is also survived by one grandson, Nicholas Bohrer of Houston, Texas. His 4 brothers and 2 sisters predeceased him.

Services will be held in the chapel at St. Marks United Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010. There will be no visitation. The family has requested that memorial gifts be made to St. Marks Church, 222 East Spring Street, New Albany, IN 47150.

    I was so sorry to learn of Mr. Bohrer's death. He was my boss at the Corps for many years. I admired and respected him very much. He was a gentleman and a caring person. He cherished you, Anna, and the boys as the Bible teaches husbands to do. I have missed not being in touch with you since retirement and wonder why we let this happen.
