Merl Jarvis, age 96 of Gosport, passed away Tuesday September 6, 2011 at the Gosport Nursing Home. She was born February 9, 1915 in Wayne County Indiana to Ross and Myrtle Morgan Petty. Merl was a homemaker and spent her working years as a drapery maker at Paul Shores Draperies in Richmond, Indiana for over 30 years. She took the greatest pride though in raising her 6 grandchildren whom are eternally grateful to her for doing so. Merl leaves behind her son Henry Jarvis of Bloomington; brother Ray Petty and his wife Agnes of Colorado; granddaughter Cheryl Reiter and her husband Matt of Ellettsville; grandson Garry Jarvis and his wife Sally of St. Louis, MO; grandson Larry Jarvis and his wife Lori of Crawfordsville; granddaughter Lori Young of Bloomington, and grandson Barry Dudas and his wife Ginna of Red Rock, Arizona. Merl also leaves behind 14 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Aaron Jarvis, sister Mary Wood, sister Mildred Johnson, sister Mabel McGuire, brother Ivan Petty, brother Ralph Petty and daughter in law Phyllis Jarvis. Graveside services for Merl will be held Friday September 9, 2011 at 1:00PM at the Glen Haven Cemetery in Richmond, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made in Merl's honor to Breast Cancer Research.
