Mike was my best friend when we were neighbors, ages 5-11. I don't think I ever had a better friend since then. He had a big heart and an unparalleled sense of humor. I am sad that he has passed away at such a young age. The world is minus a really good person. I am sure he earned his wings and has a front row seat in Heaven.

If there is ever anything I can do, please let me know. I thought the world of both of them and remember all the good times we had when you girls were little. Tim, Jeff,Karie,Amy,Rob,Mattie, & Robbie. Mike is one of the most amazing men who has ever walked this Earth. In the years I have known him I couldn't begin to explain the things I learned from him. He's the kind of man everyone wishes they could be. I've never meet anyone who couldn't say great things about him. Knowing Mike isn't here to joke and laugh with will always hurt but he is always here watching over his children and grandchildren and anytime you miss him you can see him in Tim's dedication to keeping the company going. In Jeff's hard work and ability to keep going when all others would be to overwhelmed. In Amy's abilities to never let anyone bother her. In Karies compassion and in the faces of his grandchildren. As we say goodbye to Mike on Earth I would like to thank God for letting me know him.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my condolences to Mike's entire family in regards to his recent passing. Mike and I became great friends years ago as athletes there in the Bloomington area and remained friends over the years. On Saturday, December 17, 2011, I had the pleasure of talking with Mike as we shared memories of years past. There was a lot of laughter in that conversation which I will cherish always. Mike was a great son, husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to have met and become friends with such a wonderful human being. Mike will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved him. Sincerely, Frederick Barry Ford

My condolences to Mike's family on the loss of a good man. I always enjoyed Mike's humor and intensity while playing softball with him in 1968 for a team called Mr. G's! It was a team composed of Mike's friends and local buddies, but he made room for an unknown hippie from IU grad school. Yes, we won lots of games since Mike and his friends were superb athletes. He had clear and strong principles of fairness and friendship that he demonstrated on a regular basis in the turmoil of the late 1960s. What I came to appreciate every year since then is that Mike was also a very wise man since he was able to balance all the diversity and skills on the team, while he played and managed--all without conflict. Yes, he loved to have fun and yes, he enjoyed winning. When I take the the field in a few weeks to play senior softball, I will offer my thanks to Mike and his family for all that he shared with the world.
