Paul D. Myers, 53, of Bloomington died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, October 13, 2010.  He was born on February 19, 1057 in Bloomington the son of John M. and June (Fruend) Myers.  A graduate of Bloomington High School South, he was avid wrestler during his high school years.  He worked as an over the road driver, most recently for CRST Trucking.  He was also a U.S. Army veteran.

Paul had a heart of gold, he would give a stranger the shirt off his back, he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand and he put his family and friends needs before his own.  He loved all things mechanical, he had the ability and knowledge to fix something as large as a bulldozer or as small as a child's toy.  He especially loved the outdoors, nature, camping and cooking out.

Paul is survived by two sons; Adam Myers and Matthew Myers, one daughter, Natalie Myers, all of Bloomington, two grandchildren, Spencer Douglas Myers and Alexandria Fulk, one sister, Carole Lung of Indianapolis, two brothers, Dow Myers and Church Myers, both of Bloomington and his former wife, Sandy Myers of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bert Myers.

There will be a Time of Sharing and Remembrance with the family on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Allen Funeral Home from 6;00-8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Monroe County Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.

Paul was such a great man and wonderful friend. I have such fond memories of times we spent together in the 4-H club and growing up together on the southside. He was always a big-hearted person, never afraid to help another person, regardless of what it cost him. I will sorely miss him. My deepest sympathy is pouring out to all who love him still.

My heart and prayers will be with Natalie, Matt, and Adam. I loved your dad a lot. I don't like to play favorites, but Uncle Paul was certainly the most influential uncle in my life. I will always remember the great times had with him and the boys. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to the core of our Myers family...what trying times the last four years has presented. I praise God for your continued strength during these times and the days to follow. I would like to share a story based on Uncle Paul's picture here... it brought back some memories. I'll never forget how "terrified" I was to kiss Uncle Paul good-bye because of his beard, regardless of how well kept it was! I believe this "game" went on for most of my younger youth! As much as I loved Uncle Paul, I was not about to get tickled by his beard! He had a lot of fun out of my "game". We always parted smiling, regardless! As I grew older, I did not see Uncle Paul as much, but the times that I did (family get togethers, past Derby party's, etc), he always had a presence in the room. He never met a stranger and could connect with people very quickly. Just like his Momma, he could get along with anyone. He was a bit of a Momma's boy, by the way! :) I love you Uncle Paul! Would love to have just one bearded kiss! ;) I'm gonna miss your birthday calls! I know you'll be sending your wishes from heaven. Rest sweet uncle, rest. Love you!!!!
