I am very saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I first met PT when I was working for the State Civil Defense program and delivered some radiological instruments to an Indiana Bell facility in Evansville. PT was the person that I had to meet with. When he found out my last name and where I lived he asked me if I was related to someone he knew in the Guard - my father. This was in the early '70s. In 1978 I was assigned to HHB 2-150 FA and our friendship grew. I can still remember the excitement in PT's face when, during his 40th year in the Guard, we were at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, and he was taken to meet then Governor Evan Bayh. PT was a great friend and I will miss him.

My most sincere condolences for your loss. I first meet Paul (P.T. as we called him) during my first year in the Indiana National Guard with the 2-150TH FA, Bloomington. He was the type of Man that upon your first meeting, you instantly liked and trusted him. His gentle and calm nature endured you to him from the onset. I am honored to have been on the receiving end of his mentorship, his leadership, and his kindness. From one Soldier to another, go easy Brother. You've done well.......

What a good man Paul Terrel was. His kindness to those around him was a constant bright spot in our field artillery battalion. "PT" mentored so many soldiers and set the example for all of us to follow. As Master Sergeant Martz remembered when two governors wanted to meet Paul, the soldier who served forty years in uniform, honorably, for state and nation. They were Governor, later Senator Bayh of Indiana and the Governor of Mississippi. We were on military duty at Camp Shelby, Mississippi and that would be PT's last training mission with us before he retired at "maximum allowable age" for military service. Master Sergeant Paul E. Terrell, field artilleryman, will be remembered in the hearts of so many soldiers as Sergeant Wilson said, for his mentorship, his leadership and his kindness. Thank you PT, for being a good friend and soldier. To borrow a book title. We Were Soldiers Once and Young."

I first me PT when I was XO of 2-150FA at Bloomington, then when I was the Commander there. He was a fine soldier, and a great friend. I knew instantly that he was a sincere, dedicated soldier and that has proven to be true in the 35+ years since. I want you to know how much he meant to me, and how much he thought of his family. I will miss him a lot. My heartfelt sympathy, BG(Ret) Francis Hughes

Ken and Kathleen, I am very saddened to hear of your dad’s passing. As you know, our friendship began many years ago at Indiana Bell. His positive attitude always encouraged me to see the lighter side of life, I’ll miss that. I could always count on a call from him around mid-April so he and I could swap mushroom stories, I’ll miss that, too. His friendship is something that I will always treasure. My heartfelt sympathy - Shelly

Our condolences on your loss. Paul was a wonderful neighbor. He loved to stop by and chat about fishing and pet our dog Bruno (black lab). He always said he was such a fine looking dog. We had hoped he would be able to join us fishing this year. Again, we are so sorry for your loss and he will be missed here in the West Pointe subdivision.

P.T. was an exceptional person and outstanding gentleman. I never knew him to be anything other than positive, caring, and knowledgeable about literally everything. He will be greatly missed by all at the Elks Club and Legion, both places where he was held in the highest regard. God Bless and Keep You, P.T. Gary
