We are going to miss you. As the present pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church you have been an inspiration and help to my ministry. Of Course, several who are still attending sat under your preaching way back when. You have touched many lives with your faith and your grace. May the Lord bless your family as they have such wonderful memories. And now I know for sure, you have your hearing back and you have had a reunion with Pearl. We will see you when the Lord returns of when He takes us in death. Rom. 8:28

Dear Jerry & Linda, Our prayers are with you at this difficult time. Jerry, just knowing that your Dad was such a dedicated Christian makes it so easy to be happy for him and know he is with The Lord now along with; Pearl, Marjorie and many others that he will enjoy seeing. And just imagine how he feels seeing the face of Jesus! Praise God, we will someday join him. May God comfort you and give you peace. Love you both, Betty & David

I truly wish I could attend the funeral for Pastor Deckard, my spiritual grandfather. His preaching and his life have had a profound impact on my life. As I sit in my office, I can see the murals that he gave me of his lessons on the tabernacle and on creation to re-creation. I can also see the frame that he made for a cross-stitch done by my mom. I will never forget helping him on carpentry projects, going to garage sales, or helping him understand what Pearl had said. Pastor Deckard and Pearl were like grandparents to me and I will always be eternally thankful for their love and influence. Many Christian workers are serving the Lord today because of Pastor Deckard's influence. Well-done, Pastor Deckard, you truly were a faithful servant; enjoy your rest in Christ and your many rewards.

It was my rich blessing to follow Pastor Ed as Pastor of Eastview Baptist Church in Connersville, IN. I found a Church well taught in the Word and loyal to our Lord - much like the man who had served the Lord there so very faithfully. Ed and Pearl remained in the area and I was able to have sweet and blessed fellowship with them for some time afterward. The Deckards were such a blessing and their love for the Lord abounded in all they did. Truly it was a glad reunion when Ed entered Heaven and was able to see Pearl again! More wonderful - he heard the Lord say - Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy Lord! My dear brother, I praise God for thee! And by the blood of the everlasting covenant I shall praise God with thee some sweet day - till then rest in peace. God bless your family and all those who you pointed so faithfully to Jesus.
