Robert Luther Teague

July 2, 1922-June 5, 2010

Robert Luther Teague, 87, of Bloomington, IN.  passed away June 5, 2010 at Bloomington Hospital.

A kind, gentle man, he lived over four decades on or next door to the Kirksville farm where he was born July 2, 1922. He was loved by his family and neighbors alike.

Bob was a farmer all his life and was active on his farm well into his seventies. He drove a school bus for twenty-three years. He loved to hunt and had a passion for euchre.

He married Ruth (Brown) on April 26, 1947 and she has been his best friend for 63 years. Together they raised three children: Robert Stephen “Steve” (Joyce), Mary Lou (Kessler) and Sherry Lynn (Larry Stephens), all of Bloomington. He was the proud grandfather of Robin (Chris Langley) and Jimmy (Melissa) Teague, Jennifer (Thomas Harp) and Kevin, Jared and Justin Evans. He also had five great-grandchildren: Allyson, Caleb and Amelia Langley, Nathan Harlow and Tyler Teague. Also mourning his death is Terry Dale Summitt, the little boy who became a fixture in Bob and Ruth’s household a half century ago, later working many summers for Bob and following him many miles coon hunting.

The son of Luther Francis and Anna (Eaton) Teague, he was preceded in death by brothers Orville Edgar and Elmer Kenneth and sisters Thelma L. (Patton) and Mary W. (Deckard).

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 4-8pm at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old State Road 37.

Services will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Walker’s Chapel.

He will be sorely missed by his friends and family, but we look forward to a reunion some glad morning.

Allen Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.allenfuneralhome.org

Bob was one of the sweetest men I ever knew. He was my bus driver from my first day at Kirksville, when I was a terribly shy 6 year-old, right up through high school. Always looking out for the kids, always patient and caring. Our loss is Heaven's gain.

I know there is nothing I can say that will take away the pain you are feeling but I hope you find comfort in the memories that are yours always and find strength from family and friends who are also sharing your loss. Lou Ann (classmate of Sherry's)
