Robert S. Brookshire, 95, of Bloomington, passed away in Bloomington Hospital Wednesday morning. Born March 12, 1916 in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of Charles A. & Golda (Worthington) Brookshire. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School and attended Indiana University. He served in the Signal Corps of the US Army as Master Sergeant from 1941 to 1945 serving in both ETO and the Southwest Pacific. Bob was one of the first RCA Corp. employees in 1940 and retired as Materials Manager in 1977. After retirement from RCA, he spent several winters in Florida with his wife, Ginny playing golf and enjoying life. Bob was also a member of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge. Survivors include his daughter, Teri Roberts and husband Keith of Gunnison, Colorado; his son, Robert A.  Brookshire and wife Carol of Poinciana, Florida; his sister, Wilma Gray of San Antonio, Texas; his stepson, Philip R. Nonweiler and wife Joanne of Tucson, Arizona; his step-son, George H. Nonweiler, Jr. and wife Colleen of Indianapolis, Indiana; his step-son, John T.  Nonweiler and wife Marcia  of the Republic of Haiti; his step-daughter, Nancy  Nonweiler Wichman and husband Henry of Martinsville, Indiana; his step-daughter Susan Nonweiler Foust and husband Russell of Noblesville, Indiana;. Bob also leaves behind several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Emma M. Brookshire, his wife of 26 years M. Virginia (Ginny) Brookshire, and two sisters, Frances Avanelle Bridwell and Mary Hanks. Services for Robert will be held Saturday afternoon March 19, 2011 at 2:00PM at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37. Visitation will held on Friday March 18, 2011 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Allen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Roberts memory to the American Heart Association and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.
