Roy E. McGlothlin, age 88 of Harrodsburg, passed on to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday September 14, 2011 at Bell Trace Health and Living Center surrounded by his family. He was born May 14, 1923 in Monroe County to Ralph and Helen Watson McGlothlin. Roy was a graduate of Smithville High School, an Army Veteran of World War II and spent his professional career as a brick mason. He enjoyed spending 26 winters in Leesburg, Florida, 24 of them with his late wife Irene. Roy leaves behind his son Phillip McGlothlin and wife Sharon of Kemp, Texas; two daughters Peggy Palmer and her husband Don of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Patricia Sutherlin of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron, Skyler, Kristen, Travis, and Evan; seven great grandchildren, Brittany, Jessica, Keagan, Lucas, Nathan, Bryce, and Cole; two great great grandchildren, Briley and Jherico. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene in 2009, two brothers Ralph McGlothlin, Jr., and Wayne McGlothlin, and a sister Gayle Perry. Roy's funeral service will be held Saturday September 17, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Harrodsburg Assembly of God Church of which he was a member. Visitation will be held Friday September 16, 2011 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37 and from 10:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM on Saturday at the church.
