Thomas T. Wood age, 96 of Bloomington passed away at his residence Sunday afternoon September 25, 2011. He was born in Spencer, Indiana on June 12, 1915 to Otis and Mary Etta Tipton Wood. Thomas was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, and spent his professional career as a barber. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice Hyrick Wood in June of 2011, sisters Lena Wood, Edna Shonkwilder, Lillian Burris, Alpha Brown, Judy Sergeant, and Clara Belle Wood. Also preceding him in death were his three brothers, Bertis, Harry, and an infant brother. A memorial service will be held at a later date. I just found out that Alice and Tom both passed away this summer. I usually would see them out and about for a late lunch, and had such a great time visiting with them. They were such a lovely couple. We enjoyed many chats about travelling and I often sent them postcards from San Francisco, New York and Wash. D.C., since I was on the road a lot, and I knew that Tom spent some time in SF during the war. Anyway, it is a real loss to me. As far as I can tell from Tom's obit, Alice died while I was in NY last, and Tom when I was in DC. No wonder I haven't found them in their usual haunts. We met over a chance conversation over the Sunday papers at a local eatery a couple of years ago. Bloomington will not be the same for me without them. Lyn Jentoft-Nilsen
