Virginia (Ginny) Fiscus, 92, well-known local radio personality from the 1950's, who talked "Over the Backyard Fence," with Jack Noel on WTTS, passed away peacefully at Bloomington Hospital on May 22, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on February 4, 1919, in Winamac, Indiana, to the late Charles L. and Elsie (Conn) Zellers.  She was a graduate of Winamac High School and attended Manchester College.  She married Albert M. Fiscus on May 23, 1938.  She and her family moved to Ellettsville in 1948 where Ginny was pianist and Albert choir director at First Baptist Church.  They moved to Bloomington in 1950.  She joined WTTS in 1952 where she hosted her radio show and later served as assistant "Lifestyle" editor at the Herald Times newspaper.

Her volunteer activities were numerous, including Red Cross blood drives, president of Church Women United where she was chosen "Valiant Woman of the Year," was Sunday School pianist and choir member at First United Church for many years.  She was a long time volunteer at Opportunity House and served as Chairman of the Board and head of cashier scheduling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, and her only sister, Miriam Leavy.  Survivors include children, Harold (Brenda) Fiscus, Deanna (Ronald) Stansifer, and David Fiscus.  Grandchildren, Greg (Kristi) Fiscus, Doug (Tamara) Fiscus, Dawn (Mike) Stone, Brandon Stansifer, Julie (Barry) Smiley, and Cheryl (Matt) Jenkins, eleven great-children and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Road 37, Bloomington, IN. on Wednesday, May 25, from 2-8 P.M.  The funeral will be Thursday, May 26, at 11 A.M. at First United Church, 2420 E. 3rd St. in Bloomington, IN.  Memorial donations may be made to First United Church or Opportunity House, 907 W. 11th St. Bloomington, IN 47404
