Ginnie was a great friend to me and Judy over many years. Of course, I also knew Roy and Joe. I knew Ginnie through Bloomington First Christian and as a teacher in "her" English Department at Bloomington South. I'll never forget wallpapering the master bedroom in her home for her and Joe. During a terrible blizzard in 1977, awaiting the birth of our second son, Judy, Tim (our first son), and I stayed at Ginnie's so that we could get to Bloomington Hospital. Over the years, as I moved about the country, we stayed in touch. When in Bloomington, I would stop by. Ginnie always loved to talk about her parents and Dr. Houze's outstanding ministry in Bowling Green. Ginnie was acutely intelligent. As a department chair, she was always fair and gracious. She was full of fun. I always loved, admired, and respected her. I rejoice at her long and highly productive life--and am missing her.

To the Elkins/Batchelor Families, I had the pleasure of caring for Virginia for the past 2 years while working with Dr. LaFollette. She was a remarkable person and I feel blessed to have known her. I admired and enjoyed her intelligence, humor, and compassion. I am sorry that I was unable to attend her services and meet all of you. She spoke of you often. I will miss my friend and send prayers your way during your difficult time. Respectfully, Ursula Penrose Nurse Practitioner
