Wallace McConnell, 72, ofBloomington, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the IU Health Morgan Hospital. Born on January 1, 1939 inMonroeCounty, he was the son of Lloyd and Gladys (Clark) McConnell. Wallace had 30 years of service in at Wetterau Foods. He also worked for Keller Heating and Cooling for 6 years and retired after working part-time at the Co-op. He attended Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and was a graduate from SmithvilleHigh School. Wallace was one of the Old Time Basketball Sectionals Champs in 1995 playing for Martinsvilleand 1996 for Smithville. He also rode with Company "I", 10th Cavalry, 125th Regiment for county parades and festival occasions all over theUnited States.  Wallace is survived by his former wife and caregiver Fran McConnell; three sons Randy McConnell (Kristi), Rob McConnell and Ryan McConnell; two stepchildren Judi Garrison and Gene Kemper; seven grandchildren and four step grandchildren.  Wallace was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister Carol Lyn McConnell.  Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at Allen Funeral Home with Alan Phillips officiating. Burial will follow atCarmichaelCemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday from 2 p.m. until time of service.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association In Memory of Wallace.
