Wanda Jackson,87, of Bloomington passed away at her home on the 6th
of November 2011.
Wanda was the first of six children born to George Powell Ferree
and Zella P. Felknor Ferree Hamilton on the 30`h of July 1924, in
Bloomington.
She was a graduate of Bloomington High School and married her high
school sweetheart Raymond Jackson , the son of Frank and Emma
Amanda (Mullis) Jackson, on the 3rd of October 1942. While Raymond
was away at war, she worked for RCA saving money to purchase their
first home. She loved to decorate and sewed many of her home
accessories. She loved to garden, growing orchids in the years that
she lived in Florida. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards
with friends, and was an excellent cook. Most of all she loved her
church and the many friends she had there. Wanda accepted her Lord
and Savior as a child at the McDoel Baptist Church.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Wanda is survived by her daughter Cathy (Scott) Kooken of
Bloomington, and one son, Perri Ray (Teresa) Jackson of Owensboro,
Kentucky. Grandchildren Rachel Jackson of Owensboro, Kentucky, and
Jeremiah (Ashley) Jackson of Greencastle and one great grandchild
Kenadie Jackson of Greencastle.
She is survived by two brothers, Paul Norman (Phyllis) Ferree, and
Herbert (Lois) Ferree both of Bloomington. Three sisters survive,
Evelyn (Kenneth) Polley of Whiteland, Jane (Denis) Hamilton of
Greenwood and Helen (Marshall) Brummett-Shryock of Bloomington. She
is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She requested that her nephews, John, George, Larry and Jeffery
Ferree, Russell Brummett and Kenneth Lee Polley serve as her
pallbearers. Honorary pall bearers Donald Owens and Derick
Shryock.
Funeral services will be conducted at McDoel Baptist Church on the
9th of November 2011 at 12:00 Noon. Friends may call at the church
from 10AM until the time of the service at 12:00. Burial will
follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old
Highway 37 is handling the arrangements and online condolences may
